Jonathan Metcalf

Jonathan is Integrity Martial Arts' chief instructor and the studio manager. He is a fourth-degree Yodan black belt who is certified by the Instructors Academy of Martial Arts and the Goshin Kempo Jujutsu Kai. He has studied the martial arts in Taiwan and Nepal in the Himalayan Mountains and has over 18 years of martial arts experience. Jonathan has additional certifications from the Tai Chi Instructor's Academy and the U.S. Chanbara Federation. Jonathan holds a B.A. in East Asian Studies from Wesleyan University and is one of only 10 people in the country to be certified as a martial arts instructor with a degree recognized by a higher Board of Education. Jonathan was recently inducted into the U.S.A. Martial Arts Hall of Fame as Instructor of the Year. In addition, he was recognized as a Hometown Hero for his efforts with disadvantaged youth on Fox 61's "News at Ten".

 

 

Buck Cooley

Buck is a second-degree Nidan black belt in Breakthrough Martial Arts and a senior instructor at IMA. He is certified as a martial arts instructor by the Instructors Academy of Martial Arts and the Goshin Kempo Jujutsu Kai. He is certified as an instructor by the International Sports Chanbara Association and United States Chanbara Federation.  In addition, Buck served in the U.S. Navy for four years and graduated from Windam Tech Electronics. He also achieved the highest rank of Eagle Scout and the highest honor of Order of the Arrow from the Boy Scouts of America.

 


Janice Morton

Janice is a first-degree Shodan black belt in Breakthrough Martial Arts and is a martial arts instructor at IMA. She is certified as a martial arts instructor by the Instructors Academy of Martial Arts and the Goshin Kempo Jujutsu Kai. Janice also directs the community relations and marketing initiatives for the studio. In addition, she holds her B.S. in Management and Organization from Central Connecticut State University.


Kurt Hornig

Kurt is a second-degree Nidan black belt in Breakthrough Martial Arts and is an instructor at IMA. He is certified by the Goshin Kempo Jujutsu Kai as a Martial Arts Instructor, and he is certified as an instructor by the International Sports Chanbara Association and United States Chanbara Federation.  Kurt is the director of Integrity Martial Arts' Demonstration Team. They perform martial arts demonstrations as a community service to charitable and community organizations. In addition, Kurt holds his B.S. in Respiratory Therapy from The University of Hartford.

 


Dawn Metcalf

Dawn is Integrity Martial Arts' educational consultant and she achieved the rank of first-degree Shodan black belt in June 2001. Dawn holds her Masters Degree in Education from Harvard University and owns an educational consulting firm specializing in self-esteem and risk prevention.

 


Melanie Ray

Melanie is a second-degree Nidan black belt in Breakthrough Martial Arts and is an instructor at IMA. Melanie is certified as a martial arts instructor by the Instructors Academy of Martial Arts and the Goshin Kempo Jujutsu Kai. In addition, she holds her B.S. in Lab Science from Springfield College.

 


Blaise Falbo

Blaise is a first-degree Shodan black belt in Breakthrough Martial Arts. He is a Tai Chi Chuan stylist and has been teaching Tai Chi for several years. Blaise holds his B.S. in Psychology from Charter Oak State College. In addition, he served for three years in the U.S. Army Signal Corp as a Still Photographer.

 


Chris Rowe

Chris is a third-degree Sandan black belt in Breakthrough Martial Arts and an instructor at Integrity Martial Arts.  He is certified as an instructor by the International Sports Chanbara Association and United States Chanbara Federation.

 



Phil Hornig

Phil is a second-degree Nidan black belt in Breakthrough Martial Arts and an instructor at Integrity Martial Arts.


Don Lord

Don is a first-degree Shodan black belt in Breakthrough Martial Arts and an instructor at Integrity Martial Arts. Also, Don directs Integrity's Chanbara weapons program. He is certified as an instructor by the International Sports Chanbara Association and United States Chanbara Federation. In addition, Don holds his BA in Marine Biology from Roger Williams College and an MA in Pastoral Ministry from St. Joseph's College.
